Sony plans to release it's new Red colored PSP this April and tries to take on Nintendo head to head with a new found strategy. While Nintendo is far ahead with sales over hundred million DS handhelds Sony claims 2009 will be the year of the PSP.

There have been endless rumors and mock-ups about a new PSP model many of which are totally false it seems Sony is indeed planning on releasing another PSP but the only difference here will be it's red skin, no major hardware changes will be made and according to our sources it will be here soon.
With fifty million sold PSP's Sony is about exactly 100 percent behind Nintendo DS sales. However according to Sony this is all about to change soon enough. With the introduction of a new PSP handheld and armed with a new strategy Sony plans to take over the handheld gaming industry.
The lack of quality titles has always been somewhat of a bottleneck in the PSP's success therefore Sony will use all it's money and effort to inspire and encourage the major developers in the industry to develop quality titles like Resistance, Motorstorm and Little Big Planet for PSP.
Also the UMD video's were a major disappointment however Sony still has faith in the UMD format and continues to use this format for games and who knows what in the future, yay for backwards compatibility. However with the immense popularity of the Nintendo DS and it's most recent successor the DSI along with all the mobile gaming on phones like the iPhone will Sony get another chance to prove it's hanheld is superior, we certainly won't put our money down on that one.
More details on the new PSP are soon to be released and we'll be on it like flies on ... well you know, we'll keep you updated!
