Will Wright and Electronic Arts are going to separate. The inventor of among others, "The Sims" and "Spore" has started a company called Stupid Fun Club, which is owned half by EA and the other half by Wright. There he will mainly focus on new forms of entertainment.

Will Wright founded a company in 1987 with his partner Jeff Braun called Maxis and in 1989 they brought blockbuster SimCity on the market. SimCity was the start of a long series of simulation games, which among other SimAnt, SimCopter and redesigned versions of SimCity came to life. In 1997, Maxis was sold to publisher Electronic Arts, and Will Wright was employed by the company. The creative brain within EA was responsible for the biggest blockbuster to date: The Sims. With over 100 million games sold The Sims is the best-selling franchises in the world. In June of 2009, The Sims 3 will appear. In 2008 EA brought the game Spore on the market and once again Will Wright was at the birth of the concept. Spore has yet to deliver editions for the Nintendo Wii and DS.
After twelve years of loyal service Will Wright is on his own way: he leaves EA. Wright is to work full time within his new company called Stupid Fun Club. The new company according to it's founder offers plenty of space for new ideas and acts as a think tank for people who have to offer new forms of entertainment. The ideas that arise within Stupid Fun Club are to be applied in different areas such as games, movies, Internet and toys. In addition to Will Wright EA is a fifty percent shareholder in Stupid Fun Club, also EA has obtained the rights to make games based on ideas and concepts which arise from Stupid Fun Club.
