The Nintendo DSI has been sold 600 thousand times in it's first weekend since it's release in America and Europe. Nintendo has announced that the price of the Wii console will not decline, no matter the recently declining sales.

The Nintendo DSI was launched in Europe and North America on Friday April 3rd. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced at a press conference the handheld sold over 600 thousand copies in the first two days in both regions. In Japan, where the handheld has been on sale since November 2008, the DSI has passed the milestone of two million sold copies.
In that same press conference, the Japanese console manufacturer announced that the price of the Nintendo Wii will remain the same, despite the fact that the console is under pressure from declining sales in Japan. "The Wii is currently in it's most unhealthy situation since we have launched the console," said Iwata during the press conference. However the Nintendo chief said a pricedrop is out of the question. "In a difficult economic climate, a pricedrop would not result in a huge increase in sales. I think a pricedrop is currently not a good option for us."
