Chrome for Linux appears to be ready for Alpha soon

It appears the Chromium project has reached a quite stable and usable browser so a first public Alpha release is to be expected soon. The browser almost completely resembles the Google Chrome Windows client and updates come daily.

A while ago we wrote a post on the first daily builds of Chromium, the Open Source project behind Google Chrome. Back then it was pretty nifty but terribly unstable, as predicted by it's creators. A few months later we thought it was about time to check out this project's progress, and progress there is!

The great thing about Chromium is that the community behind it is so determined, Chromium receives major and minor updates on a daily bases and each patch makes a really noticeable difference in the browsers stability. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of work to be done still, but I've seen browsers that had been considered "stable" fail worse than this pre-alpha release. This means it just might go into the first Alpha stages of development.

If the Chromium development team can keep up the pase there could very well be a Chrome for Linux soon. Check out the gallery above to see it in action!
