A company that treats its programmers as morons will soon have programmers that are willing and able to act like morons - B. Stroustrup

The long awaited Google Square is now open for public. I took my first hands-on on this new Google miracle and see whether or not this is a Wolfram Alpha beater. My first impressions make me want to scream of joy.

It has been only a short while since Google announced the new feature roll-out for it's search engine but it turns out Google has already made the new Google Squared available for public testing. This new search tool from Google Labs, puts search results into a convenient spreadsheet format designed to help you get the basic facts about whatever you're searching for without clicking through to too many different websites.
The database still lacks some serious results but I believe that will come with time. But if you take one of the keywords suggested by Google for example "rollercoasters" this proves the concept just fine. Several major rollercoasters are put into a spreadsheet and you are presented with nice and organized information. You can also add a column for example "speed" and Squared will try to obtain that information as well. I have to say this technology amazes me and Google never stops to amaze me, this is definitively a more intuitive way of searching the web.
As for Wolfram, I was only sad to see that none of my searches resulted in anything close to what I was searching for. Maybe it's me, maybe it's their database but I guess it's just that Google has a bit more of a head start in knowledge as well as in cold hard cash.
