Long before anyone had heard of Googles Chrome browser there was a small Opnen Source project called "Chromium" and this is actually where Google Chrome is based on. Chromium comes straight from the labs at Google inc. and is set out on a mission to realize Chrome on Linux.

Although many people running Windows are enjoying Googles Chrome browser, many other people were left waiting, mainly Mac and Linux users that is. For the curious minded there was still a way to run Chrome on Linux/Mac using Wine, A Windows compatibility layer or debatable "Emulator". However this non-native initiative failed to provide the necessarily speed and stability that a modern browser are supposed to offer. A native Chrome version would eventually arrive according to Google but It's been almost a year now and still there's no sign of a native Chrome build, and that's where The Chromium project comes in.
Building Chromium from source is not rocket science but It's not recommended for "people with terminal phobia" so therefore Tombuntu wrote a post on how to require and add the Chromium daily builds PPA repository (thanks Tom). Softsaurus bit into this pre-Alpha build to check out it's progress, and we can already tell you this project has astounded us all with it's functionality in such an early stage.
